Privacy Policy

How 529 Decision Center handles information. The short version: the numbers you enter never leave your browser, because there is no server to send them to.

Last reviewed

This site has no accounts, no logins, no database and no analytics. The figures you type into the tools are held in your own browser and are deleted when you close the tab.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to 529DecisionCenter.com and the tools published on it. It describes what the site does today; the “last reviewed” date above tells you when that was last checked.

The numbers you enter

Every tool asks for figures — a balance, a monthly contribution, a child’s age, sometimes a state. All of it is processed by code running inside your browser. None of it is transmitted anywhere.

So that your answers survive moving between tools, they are kept in your browser’s session storage under the keys 529dc.inputs and 529dc.leftover. Session storage is per-tab and per-device: it is not readable by other websites, it is never sent to us, and the browser discards it when you close the tab.

To clear it sooner, close the tab or use your browser’s “clear site data” control.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies. Not for analytics, not for preferences, not for advertising. If that changes, this page changes with it and the date above will move.

What loads from elsewhere

Pages are built ahead of time and served as static files. Fonts are bundled into the site at build time rather than fetched from a font service, so viewing a page does not cause a request to Google or to any other third party.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the technical information your browser sends in order to deliver the page and to protect the site from attack — typically your IP address, the page requested, a timestamp, and your browser’s user-agent string. This is standard infrastructure logging that we do not control the retention of, do not receive as a report, and do not combine with anything you typed into a tool.

Cloudflare’s handling of that data is governed by its own privacy policy at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

Advertising

This site currently carries no advertising and no advertising cookies. If that changes, this section will describe exactly what is served and how to opt out, and the review date above will move.

Children

These tools are written for the adults who fund a 529 — parents, grandparents and account owners. The site is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. It asks for a child’s age as a number used in a projection; it never asks for a child’s name or any other detail that could identify them, and you should not enter one.

Your rights over your data

Rights to access, correct, export or delete personal data — under the GDPR, the CCPA and similar laws — assume there is a copy of your data held somewhere to act on. There is not. We hold no personal information about you, so there is nothing for us to look up, hand over or erase.

The one exception is the infrastructure logging described above, which sits with our host rather than with us. Anything you entered into a tool you can erase yourself by closing the tab.

Changes to this policy

If what the site does changes — advertising, analytics, or anything that touches your data — this page is updated before the change goes live, and the review date at the top moves.
